Artist Statement
Environmental disasters carry a heavy influence on our daily lives and the future. Through visual art, I realized I could gain the attention of my peers and convey important messages about how to help our planet flourish. I watch documentaries involving our ancient past showing our harmony with the environment and let them guide my brain to produce new pieces. Considering the recent discoveries of the history of how humans have influenced climate change, I hope to push viewers into thinking about how people can connect deeper with the planet.
By using India ink and watercolor, my current works depict images of body parts becoming one with nature, often showing connections between our veins and the roots of plants. Sometimes I incorporate animals and insects interacting with human eyeballs to enhance the idea that people are always influencing other life. I want people to understand the importance of treating the environment around us with care as if it were their own body.
